The Pro's & Con's
Of Having An
Outdoor Rabbit
vs
Indoor
Rabbits are fast, small, & intelligent prey animals. They have been around since God created the earth. Two of the most debated topics about pet rabbits are 'Should Pet Rabbits Be Indoors Or Outdoors?' and 'Do Rabbits Belong In A Wire Cage?'. If you have those questions then you've came to the right place.
Remember, the most important thing here is trying to do what's best for you and your rabbit with what you have. I try to include both sides of the argument with as much information as I can. I don't like being bias with these topics.
Some of the most common benefits of having an outdoor bunny is you don't have to worry about bunny proofing your house, rabbit is 'Out Of The Way', and you typically save money.
To a lot of people having there rabbit outside might seem cruel or like animal abuse. In some cases it is. When your pet lives outside it is harder to find time to spend with them. To most people who house there rabbits outside, the recommended three hours of quality social time with there rabbit can seem impossible. Especially in winter or on really hot dry days.
I'm not saying that spending a few hours walking your rabbit, brushing them, or teaching them tricks is impossible. Just for most people that is unreasonable.
Outdoor rabbits are also more prone to diseases that can, in most cases, be fatal. Its almost a guarantee that they are going to get the sniffles, which is actually the most common reason rabbits die.
The sniffles is dangerous because rabbits can't breath out of there mouths that well like me and you can. Instead rabbits use there nose to breath. If a rabbit gets a really stuffy nose then they won't be able to breath, pass out, and eventually die.

You can find rabbit supplies that is cheap but typically the supplies made for outdoor rabbits is cheaper because it typically has less thrills. I guess it also depends on where you shop.
Having an outdoor rabbit exposed to some weather can be good for your rabbits hormones and help build up there immune system.
Building up an immunity to rabbit flue and growing a winter coat keeps there body working. You can typically go more places with your rabbit without it freaking out or bringing home germs.
Most of the abused and neglected rabbits have been outdoor rabbits. Not saying that just cuz a rabbit is kept outside means that it is being abused. I have seen people take really great care of there outdoor pets.
If you are inside most of the day or at work it is easier to forget you have a rabbit and need to spend time with it vs having an indoor rabbit, the rabbit is just right there.
