The Best Fruits and Veggies For Your Pet Rabbit(:

It is very important for your rabbit to be getting the best out of it's food.  Here are some of the very best treats and every day foods your rabbit should be getting.

Celery-

(Every Day Food)

Celery is one of the healthiest, cheapest, and Yummiest foods for your rabbit!  Not only that but you can give this to your rabbit on a regular basis.

Celery has a lot of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Potassium in it.  It can help boost your rabbits digestion and help inflammation.

Carrots-

(Treat)

Contrary to a lot of beliefs carrots are actually not that healthy for your rabbit.  Surprisingly, they contain a lot of sugar which is not good for your rabbits stomach.  Its like drinking a lot of very shugery pop or eating candy for lunch.  People can still drink pop and eat candy but it should not be a main food source (Well for most people;).

On the other hand carrots have some Vitamin A so there not all bad.  If given the right portion carrots can be a healthy and enjoyable snack for your rabbit.

I recommend giving a healthy adult rabbit two baby carrots every other day.  It is important to leave a day in between treats so your bunnies stomach can settle.

Banana-

(Treat)

Bananas are kinda like carrots.  They contain a lot of sugar, but it also has some nutritional benefits.

Bananas contain Vitamin B6 and Vitamin C.  They are good for your bunnies digestion and can help build a healthy heart.

You can give your rabbit 1-2 Tbs of banana (a chunk of banana) every week.

Apple-

 (Treat)

Apples are often overlooked as a choice of treat.  They contain Vitamin C and can help prevent your rabbit from getting diseases and cancer.  Yet again they should only be offered as a treat because of there high levels of sugar.

You can give your rabbit 1-3 thin slices a few times a week.

Extra Leafy Greens-

(Every Day Food)

Baby spinach, dandelion greens, broccoli, parsley, cabbage, and (a few)snap peas are all great options that are proven to have extreme health benefits for rabbits.  They can benefit your rabbits eyes, coat, nails, teeth, skin, and immune system.  They will also help your rabbits overall health.

Most rabbit owners agree that at least half of your rabbits diet should be made up of leafy greens.

Rolled Oats-

(Every Day Food)

At the end of a fun, eventful day, mixing rolled oats into your rabbits pellets can help your rabbit end the day on a good note.  I actually recommend rolled oats as an every day treat, but they can be a fun hand fed treat as well.

Oats provide extra fiber, and because of the extra carbohydrates, they are also really good for there stomachs.

When Mixing oats into my rabbits pellets I usually do three parts pellets and one part oats.  You can adjust that according to the needs of your rabbit.  The most you should ever do is two parts pellet and one part oats.

Oats can also help your rabbit gain weight.  The spring and summer are excellent times of the year to start incorporating oats into your rabbits diet.  During the summer rabbits are naturally thin and could use a little boost to get there weight up.

To give your rabbit a shinier, healthier coat, you might even try adding a sprinkle of unsalted, shelled sunflower seeds to your rabbits pellets.
